The Travels of Marco Polo – Manuel Forcano
Description:
The son of a family of Venetian merchants, Marco Polo left Europe with his father and uncle in 1271 to embark on a marvelous journey along the famous Silk Road to China, governed by the great Mongol emperor Kublai Khan. After a journey of twenty-four years across the Asian continent, he returned home and wrote down his adventures, which reflect the fabulous exoticism of an Orient still unknown and almost unreal. The result was his book The Description of the World, popularly known as The Book of Marvels, which amazed his listeners and readers. His descriptions managed to take root in the European imagination with a force that, after seven centuries, has endured to this day. Manuel Forcano will bring us closer to the book and the travels of Marco Polo.

Breaking the Silence, Weaving Solutions – Marta Segarra and Elisabeth Baldor
Description:
It is undeniable that living in a monastery under the precepts of a strict rule and a very marked hierarchy makes coexistence a fundamental pillar of the community’s daily life. But it is inevitable that, over time, conflicts arise. Monastic life had to coexist with various political contexts and a great variety of sensitivities among its members. This is why we often wonder how all these situations were managed. Through some anecdotes that have reached us to this day, we will try to reflect on what disturbed the daily life of the monks of Santes Creus and how it was resolved to return to an environment of harmony and coexistence.
