INAUGURAL MANIFESTO OF THE FESTIVAL
Dra. Carolin Emcke, journalist and philosopher
Carolin Emcke is one of the most prominent intellectual personalities in Germany today. Philosopher, thinker, writer and journalist graduated from Harvard, London and Frankfurt and teacher at Yale University. She has worked as a reporter and editor in several countries in conflict, such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Colombia or Kosovo. Her work as a philosopher has focused on the fight for peace and intercultural dialogue (Contra el odio, 2016, Weil es sagbar ist, 2013) and on feminism, human rights and LGTBI+ (Ja heisst ja, 2019, How we desire, 2014) and is also focused on aspects linked to environmentalism and the environment. She has published several books and received the distinguished Friedenpreis des Deutschen Buchhandels in 2016. She speaks fluent Spanish and he will write and read the opening text of the 2023 festival, dedicated with such care and awareness to life and, in particular, to honoring the women and heroines and to promote memory, intercultural dialogue and ecological awareness.
