Social and Educational Project
This year, the Jordi Savall Festival is launching a new social and educational project aimed at strengthening the connections between music, the local area and the community. The initiative was created to open the festival to new audiences, foster spaces for encounter and dialogue, and improve access to culture through an inclusive, educational and transformative approach. The project includes the following actions:
The festival has established partnerships with several musical and educational institutions in the region, including the music schools of Montblanc and Valls, the Vila-seca Conservatory, the Friends of Music of Valls, and the Valls Youth Music Association. These collaborations bring the festival closer to students and young musicians, create opportunities for shared learning, and encourage direct contact with internationally renowned artists and repertoires.
The project has also initiated collaborations with students and higher education institutions such as ESMUC and the EÒLIA School, as well as with other cultural organisations across the Catalan-speaking territories. These partnerships aim to create educational opportunities, professional experiences and new forms of participation related to music, performance and artistic creation.
This is the festival’s second year of collaboration with Apropa Cultura, a platform that facilitates access to cultural activities for social organisations working with people in vulnerable situations. Through this partnership, the festival reaffirms its commitment to accessible, inclusive and open culture by facilitating access to concerts and festival activities for groups that often face barriers to cultural participation.
The Jordi Savall Festival also promotes open rehearsals, educational activities and shared listening experiences designed to bring music closer to different audiences and to showcase artistic working processes. These activities provide a more direct and participatory experience, fostering a deeper understanding and first-hand appreciation of music.
The project also includes workshops and activities aimed at specialised groups and institutions, such as the Can Ros Therapeutic School. These initiatives create opportunities for participation, listening and shared experiences through music, understood as a tool for well-being, inclusion and personal and community development.
This social and educational project seeks to create an active network of collaboration around the festival, encouraging exchanges between musicians, students, professionals and diverse audiences while generating new opportunities for cultural participation throughout the region.
All these actions continue the values and social commitment promoted for many years through the YOCPA project of the International Centre for Ancient Music Foundation (CIMA), an initiative that fosters inclusion, education and human development through music.
